This proposed bus lane will undoubtedly if given the go ahead ruin Lexden Road.

A supremely dangerous proposal given the amount of children who use this road to walk/cycle to and from the many schools in the area.

This would cause more chaos and will be very dangerous for the children. Not a good idea at all!!!!

Ludicrous idea that concerns me greatly. I use the buses regularly and choose to do so outside key school times at which point the journey is efficient and pleasant on a tree lined Avenue. I cannot believe that the school children have not been considered in this proposal. Total waste of money. I do not support it.

Dangerous to increase traffic flow in a road which principally serves schoolchildren all entering and exiting at the same time

Consideration for a minor improvement for buses over a 30 minute period 5 days a week, 39 weeks a year does not weigh against risks for thousand of children using this road.
The simple way to reduce congestion would be to create bus pull-ins for St Mary's School which is the main cause for the congestion.

I use this road daily, going to and from school. It is busy but I am thankful for congestion at this time as it keeps pedestrians/ cyclists safe. I could not cycle to school without a cycle lane. When walking, I already have to wait or walk into the road when a bus stops to empty all occupants for school. Current pavements sizes cannot support the numbers! I am really concerned that anyone would look to spend such considerable sums of money on a project not needed. If we need 1000 to object, who were the 1000 who supported the proposal!

Child and cyclist safety should be paramount.

The proposals will do nothing to help the short period of congestion around school time but will endanger school children, pedestrians using the footpath and cyclists. It will also spoil the wonderful leafy road which is in a conservation area. The money can be much better spent mending pot holes and pavements. It would also be better spent encouraging traffic to use Cymbeline Way, Avenue of Remembrance and Westway to gain access to town.

The scale of the project and a number of specific elements are completely unnecessary. Local involvement and consultation must take into account views of all Lexden road stakeholders

Huge amounts of money to spend on a problem which occurs for half an hour a day and puts all pedestrians at risk by reducing the pavement.

We agree completely with the petition. The idea of putting a bus lane down Lexden Road will be extremely dangerous

This proposal isn't necessary and won't improve the minor problems which occur twice a day. It will only make matters worse and hasn't been thoroughly thought out.

School time congestion does not warrant this proposal. Deal with problems around North Station and stop trying to destroy a beautiful road.

There is only congestion for a short while in the morning during term time and a bus lane is totally unnecessary .

It is not needed. Lexden Road is not the problem. Lorries unloading in Head Street cause gridlock.
