Oppose the Lexden Bus Lane Proposals

Yet another costly and unwanted plan by the council to impose something in this town that clearly it doesn't need nor will it solve any of the issues that the council thinks it will...... So here's a message to the council...please listen to the people of Colchester.... WE DONT WANT OR NEED THUS BUS LANE......

The idea of hundreds of teenagers coming out of school, walking and on the their bikes, sharing the same footpaths is horrendous - That has definitely not been thought through. There needs to be a referendum of locals and road users!

Yet another foolish plan which does not take into account the local situation and residents' informed views.

Utter waste of money, only need to stop school buses parking and causing congestion

This scheme is totally unnecessary and the outlay could be used more usefully elsewhere

I am very concerned about the safety aspects of having a combined cycle and pedestrian pathway and feel this will only cause accidents, especially when so many children queue after school for buses. My Grandson walks and sometimes cycles to school along Lexden Road and the slow speed of the traffic passing along this road during the start and end of school times helps keeps the children safe. Out of school time a bus only takes at the most 10 mins. to get into town. Does this warrant a bus lane?Please spend the money on making the Lexden Crown end of Lexden Road a better place for driving. Without vehicles parking there the traffic will flow more freely.

this is pointless in putting a bus lane in lexden due to the simple fact that the traffic flows freely, this is just another way of putting bus fares up and costing us more money... complete rip off!!!

This proposal will solve nothing - more importantly it will create significant risks not least to the school children, pedestrians and cyclists who use the Lexden Road.

There are too many school children using both sides of the road for the footpaths to be narrowed and to share them with cyclists is an accident/fatality waiting to happen. Some of the children attending schools on lexden road are as young as 2 1/2 and cannot be guaranteed to be under parental control at all times. This proposal would make attending school significantly more dangerous .

I attended the public consultation event last week and was astounded that those representing the proposal weren't in favour of it. They seemed to think that it was very unlikely to go ahead. It's a crazy waste of public funds. It will not significantly speed up the flow traffic which is only affected for 2 hours a day. It will also deface the most picturesque approach to Colchester, a road which has remained unchanged for over 100 years.

These ideas will not add to bus users into the town. It is unnecessary to spend taxpayers money on traffic calming on this road. Above all the proposals are dangerous for the pedestrians and cyclists who use Lexden Road in large numbers.

Please listen to those who actually live and journey in this area every day. We do not need a bus lane, we need to put the health and safety of our children first. Please consider them and the historic nature of this area. Do not repeat the Lord Hanningfield fiasco of imposing CC views on our local area!

The most stupid waste of money which will do no good whatsoever

We have better things to spend our money on.

Another silly, costly idea which will not improve the traffic flow but will endanger residents and schoolchildren.

This will be a danger to pedestrians and cyclists alike.

I do not support a bus lane on the lexden road. Narrowing this road and making it a shared pavement for pedestrians and cyclist will be extremely dangerous for all that have to use it

I do not support a bus lane, I think it will make the road dangerous for the local schoolchidren.
