There are ways to improve traffic flows in Colchester that are sensible and make common sense - this proposed option does not fall into this category.

A bus lane is absolute waste of money and will put cyclists and Pedestrians in danger, particularly at school opening and closing times when Lexden Road is ultra busy.

Who is in charge of coming up with this ridiculous idea. No doubt someone from County who only comes to Colchester to cause chaos and disruption. Get the lights and other issues sorted first.

This simply should not get approved. It will wholeheartedly change one of the nicest roads into the town centre making it unnecessarily dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists.

I am amazed at how well the traffic flows along Lexden Road for most of the day. The present proposals seem unnecessary and will detract from the area. A problem is parked cars near the Crown PH

Ridiculous idea. Once the morning school rush is over there are little if any traffic issues on Lexden Road.

I am against many parts of the project but I find the proposals for the cyc;le lane highly inappropriate and very ill-considered

The proposal to create a bus lane, with cyclists sharing with pedestrians, is going to create more issues than it will resolve., especially if pavements are to be narrowed too!
With the exiting of children with little attention, exiting from schools, this is potentionally a dangerous situation for cyclists swerving to avoid, and alongside a busy road!
It must be opposed.

I agree that it will be dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians, mainly the school children.

We must always put the safety of our children first. This proposal will not ensure their safety.

let's move forward with cycling as a viable means of transport in our suburbs and inner city areas!

The proposed bus lane is unnecessary & a total waste of money. It would also spoil what is a lovely road to & from town.

This project is unwanted and more to the point, unnecessary. The early morning and mid-afternoon traffic pressures are short-lived with little time disruption to buses and cars. It would also cause a danger to the many hundreds of school children who have to use Lexden Road on school days. Giving communal space to pedestrians (most of whom will be young children), and cyclists, is a recipe for disaster.
No to bus lane- Lexden Road
