This is a dangerous plan when so many children and adults walk this route. Narrowing the path does not make sense.

Not a good idea with so many children on this road.

Do not understand what the council think they are doing. This will cause no end of dangers for the number of children and adults who walk this route every day. Why is it we have so many council and government officials who do not listen to the general public

Completely opposed to this proposal. This will be even more dangerous to pedestrians.

This will impact the safety of students from at least five schools in the area. In addition, mixing cyclists and groups of young students walking to school and disembarking from buses is a potentially dangerous mix.

The pavement is too narrow already for the number of school children using the area, particularly at the end of the school day-& as for the traffic....

Already the traffic is high putting a bus lane is going to be even more disastrous.

I don't believe that the council have not thought this through. Unless they live in another town of course....

Unthoughtful proposal

An even more unthought out proposal than the widening of the pedestrian bridge over Balkerne Hill

This will only cause more hold ups during the busy period in order to provide relief for only a short period each day.

Urban vandalism of a lovely road and in any case the proposal isn't sound. It will create more issues and it won't solve the root cause. There are other ways of improving traffic flow in Lexden road and this public money would be better spent on more important road improvements in Colchester.

I use this road everyday to come to and from work, I cannot see how a bus lane will help the traffic situation, surely it will just make it worse! Reducing the size of the pavements and cyclists sharing with pedestrians is a recipe for disaster, given the high volume of school children using the pavements and the amount of school buses stopping to drop children off, a bus lane simply is not the answer. Potentially in certain places down lexden road if there was a dedicated lay-by for busses to pull in and drop children off then this would help traffic (as cars would then not be stuck behind parked busses until they can overtake safely).

Lexden Road is a complete nightmare with traffic as it is, having a bus lane will only add to this and cyclists and pedestrians having to share a footpath is a ludicruous idea, the paths will not be wide enough for both to use. Having a bus lane will only add more frustration to all using this area.

Cannot see how this is going to reduce congestion and will completely change the character of what is one of the few remaining traditional roads in Colchester. More risk to the cyclists.
