Silly idea and waste of money when we are living in a time of austerity, as we are constantly reminded.

This is an unnecessary proposal with traffic largely free flowing during the day apart from two peak periods. A pinch area of congestion is by the Lexden Crown pub and Cymbeline Way and making this double yellow lined may help that

I agree entirely with the arguments against this proposal as outlined by the Lexden Borough Councillors.

The proposal to put in a bus lane along Lexden Road is yet another example of an unnecessary and unjustified change. There are more cars, pedestrians and bicycles that use this road rather than buses and as such the former should have priority. With the schools/ houses in this part of the town the changes are unsound and unsafe. Go away Essex County Council and bring back Colchester Borough Council to control our roads in the Borough in a democratic way and the way local people want their roads

This is a waste of time and money. Congestion is at school times only not throughout the day.

I see no need for this bus lane. Lexden Rd is very empty the vast majority of the day, and when it's congested, the existing pavements need widening, NOT narrowing, to hold all the children!

This really doesn't make sense. It won't make lexden road safer and it will increase the risk of accidents.

My children use this road for travelling to and from school. Making the pavements narrower will be dangerous to those pedestrians . Why alter something that reminds us of the history of Colchester? I walked for 20mins to town and 20mins back from town using Lexden road- less than 3 buses passed me!

This seems unnecessary and will create problems to the flow of traffic. Many pedestrians use the pavements and this will become dangerous should they have to share the pavement with cyclists.

The most stupid idea. Bike`s and people on the pavement do not mix.
I was knocked over by a bike rider on the pavement next to the pedestrian crossing near Oaks Drive.
There is no need for a Bus lane. The traffic is held up for about an hour in the morning and in the afternoon with children going to and leaving school, the trouble is caused by school busses stopping in Lexden Rd. to allow children to embark and alight. They will still do this wether there is a bus lane or not.
I know first hand about this as I lived at the top of Oaks Drive for 20 years. There will be many accidents on the pavements and the traffic will not move any faster.
A really stupid idea. How can these idiots keep a straight face when they come up with these plans.
