Very dangerous idea. The road is only busy for a short while each day.

I know the area well and this bus lane is a totally daft and unnecessary waste of money. Busy at school times but this is when the present wider pavements are the safest solution. A bus lane will make little difference to bus times. Crazy ECC!

there is no rationale business case. This scheme is attempting to address an issue that occurs 45 mins for 40 weeks of the year, In fact this scheme will NOT alleviate traffic congestion it will increase the issue. IT WILL increase the the dangers to pedestrians and cyclists.

The alterations proposed will damage a beautiful approach to the town of Colchester and ignore the interests of pedestrians who would be obliged to suffer sharing pavement space with cyclists.

This is an unnecessary waste of money designed to spoil one of the last pleasant parts of Colchester Turing it into a dreary street that is dangerous to those who currently enjoy the spacious footpaths without fear of being knocked down by fast moving cylclists who should be on the road where they belong.
It will also lead to the destructive culling of the beautiful trees adorning the road j use to accommodate the few people that use the buses.
The money would be far better spent resolving congestion in the town that is of greater significance, such as the Northern Approach and North Station area - all of which flowed much better before the artificial intervention into the road system.

I can see no positive reason for this proposal. It is not needed and will change the character of the area, but perhaps most importantly it will compromise the safety of the large number of school students who will be forced to share the pavement with cyclists.
