I normally get a bus to town from Stanway and it's never held up....so what's the point of introducing a dedicated bus lane?

The town centre requires re -planning to bring it in line with other nearby towns so putting a bus lane along Lexden rd is not a solution but a further disaster in creating more mayhem to transport as well as pedestrians. Both Essex County Council and Colchester Borough Council are too politically motivated which has totally ruined Colchester and it's about time business leaders were more involved in decision making to help re build Colchester so it can be a desirable place to live and shop. So please leave Lexden rd alone until an improved infrastructure is worked out as doing little improvements are making Colchester a complete nightmare to negotiate and live with. Stop being pathetic and listen to the public and consult at reasonable times.

This proposal will interfere significantly with the drop-off and collection of school children along Lexden Road. Furthermore, its not a good idea for pedestrians to 'share' a pathway with cyclists.

This road has significant foot traffic, especially during school hours when the patyways are already full around Norman Way and St Marys School. To reduce the width of the pathways is a dangerous suggestion. The traffic blockages are at the Maldon Road roundabout and will not be improved by this scheme and will simply waste a significant amount of money.

Will make Lexden road dangerous 1, two way traffic only 2.extra cars at school times picking up and dropping off.3.extra traffic from people going to work and returning from Colchester.8.30 and 3.30 an experience to be missed.4. Numerous school buses at 3.30 on Lexden Rd.5 A lot of Side roads empting onto main road.

I feel it would put school children at risk on their way to & from school. A consideration that must take precedent over any traffic congestion problems.

The thought of cycles and pedestrians sharing the same path fills me with horror.

Because of the number of school children in that area it would be unsafe to reduce the width of the pavements.

Bus lanes are not needed on Lexden road. The road isnt wide enough for a bus lane.

Narrowing the pavements will be very dangerous, as well as destroying the character of the area. The pavements are packed at school times as it is.

This cannot go ahead, it's a ludicrous proposal!

I oppose this because (1) it will be less safe for the many children that use the pavements along Lexden Road (2) the local schools oppose it (3) Colchester Borough Council oppose it (4) it is a bad use of money (5) there are many more urgent things needed, especially repairing potholes which are a real danger

This idea is complete nonsense. The road is simply not wide enough for three lanes of traffic. The council has already spent a lot of money on cycle lanes and trying to encourage people to travel to work / school / other by more greener means and now it is apparently changing the goal posts once again. This is a busy road with huge numbers of school children in the mornings and the afternoons and the idea of narrowing the pavements further beggars belief. This is an accident waiting to happen.

I strongly object to the project of putting a bus lane in Lexden road. The prospect of pedestrians and cyclists using the same pathway would be very dangerous.

I fervently oppose this bus lane proposal. It is obvious from this picture that there is a cycle lane already keeping pedestrians safe. Allowing cycles and pedestrians to share the overgrown pathways is an accident waiting to happen. A better act would be to repair all the potholes and uneven surfaces of Lexden road so that all users can remain safer.
