100% in favour. We live on Beverley Road and the speeds of many cars is far too fast particularly when it is so close to the grammar school and many children are being picked up and dropped off. Lexden Road is 30mph and this should be extended to Beverley Road and Creffield Road

This will endanger lives of school, preschool and workers who use these very busy paths on a daily basis, absoulutely ridiculous!

We live on this road and with the number of students around it is too dangerous to add a bus lane. There are so few buses anyway I'm not sure what it would gain.

I agree that this change to Lexden Road is NOT in the best interest for the area or very safe for the many children that go to that area for school. The smaller walkways are a rediculius suggestion which will only force children to walk in the roads because of over crowding on the walkways. It is very clear that the local residents and, most importantly the local schools are appossed to this for very sencible reasons.

A bus lane would be unsafe for children, cyclists, disabled people and the elderly. Please do not prioritise car drivers over people's lives.

There are only congested times when the school children are leaving. Pavements are not suitable for both cyclists and pedestrians. The lane would narrow the road for motorists and, as it is a well-used road, this would cause greater car queues and congestion.

It sounds a totally ill considered and ridiculously expensive plan, dangerous for pedestrians, the money could be spent on many more needy projects in Colchester.

I'm a wheelchair user and i have to use Lexden road to get to town . Making the paths smaller for a bus lane , will make it harder for us users .The money could be better spent in making path ways better condition , then a bus lane .

Highly dangerous and unacceptable proposal for our local school children. The traffic is not that bad and certainly not worth risking pedestrian safety. The bus lane will also be very damaging to character of our lovely conservation area.

The idea of a shared cycle and pedestrian path along Lexden Road to make room for a bus lane is both dangerous and ludicrous

The congestion is mostly during school pick up and drop off times and this will compound the problem and increase the risk of accidents for both pedestrians and cyclists. I thought we were supposed to be a cycling friendly town! There is not enough room for this to work safely.

I have lived in Lexden all my life and am now 83. This is one of the best roads in Colchester and creating this bus lane would would is a waste of tax payers money and be detrimental to the whole of Lexden

Traffic is already a nightmare at peak times, so this proposal will not only make it more dangerous for students travelling to school but will also make Colchester traffic move far slower (if this is possible?). A radical rethink on policy is needed as past decisions (vis traffic calming scheme in the High Street) also seem counterintuitive and illogical.

The pavements made narrow. How will wheelchair users cope with cyclists and more children on the narrow pavement. Has anyone looked to see what will happen.

I d not agree with or support this venture. I use this route daily and I am happy with the current arrangements. there are many other and more important traffic issues to address in the town.

There is no demand for this bus lane. For a period of approx 1 hour at the most both morning and afternoon 8-9am & 3.30-4.40, school term time only, this is an expensive option to ease traffic congestion that only exists for a short period of the day. As a parent who sits in this traffic (willingly, because I do not consider it safe enough to let my children walk to school because of the traffic) i see the main issue is the school buses stopping directly opposite each other outside St Marys school. They sit here for long periods when no other traffic can pass. If the St Marys girls were asked to walk to the bus park in Norman way then the buses would not need to stop at this point. Actually a free way to ease congestion.

This idea represents mad desecration of the most beautiful approach into Britain's oldest recorded town. Don't do it, please!
