There should be plans to encourage the use of the pavements by pedestrians and get cars off the road. By making the pavements narrower you will discourage walking and cycling and more people will drive by car. The congestion is not caused by buses and giving them a dedicated lane will not solve the problem.

I am totally opposed to the idea to create a bus lane on the Lexden Road in Colchester. I live in Lexden Road. The narrowing of pavements will cause obvious dangers to pedestrians.

Bus lane is complete waste of space, At Chelmsford park & ride when the bus lane was introduction I have only see few no more than 3 bus passed when I am standstill on traffic. Lexden Road if it will make a double lane for cars toward to Colchester only then it will be alright but it is not fair for people who is live near new lane just ridiculous so that is why I am against it

I oppose the proposed new bus lane on Lexden Road. This is a thoroughly ill-thought out plan which will make Lexden Road for dangerous for all users. The idea of forcing cyclists and pedestrians to share a narrower pavement is particularly ridiculous, particularly given the large numbers of children who use the pavements at the beginning and end of their school day.

This is a backwards step, I thought we were being encouraged to cycle and walk more but this will force more into their cars. Sharing a pavement between pedestrians and cyclists will not work and is dangerous

Completely unnecessary and dangerous. Reducing the width of the pavement and forcing cyclists to share the path with pedestrians and schoolchildren is a backwards step.

I am against the plans for Lexden Road as it will spoil the look of the area and make it more dangerous for pedestrians, cyclists and car users whilst the buses, as usual sail along mostly empty.

Most stupid idea that could have been made up. Something that has not be thought through at all. Will cause major damage and disruption in the area and ruin the area. Please spend money on something that will change the town not ruin it.

Any money available should be used to address the appalling state of Colchesters minor roads and removing the unnecessary controlled parking in Cambridge road.

No need for this! The money can be better spent. This is a beautiful road a bus lane would ruin it. Just make outside the lexden crown double yellow that's the only bit I notice to get a bit congestion but even that moves quick at rush hour. Rush hour or school closing time is the only time it gets a bit busy like most places but the bus lane won't solve this. How will smaller pavements help either? What exactly is the problem they are trying to solve!?

The kids that get the bus are already piling into the road as it is, if you add a bus lane it's going to way too dangerous!
