The Local Authority finally backed down and approved Lewis for his placement at Lufton. They tried to prioritize their budget over his safety but we forced them to stop playing games with his future. Stay vigilant because we need to make sure they follow through on this promise.

Lewis has a diagnosis of severe learning disabilities, atypical autism and ADHD. He struggles in a mainstream environment every day of his life and all he wants is to feel safe, secure and settled whilst he learns to be the best he can be. There is clear evidence available that a residential placement at Cambian Lufton College is the only acceptable way for Lewis to achieve this but the Local Authority are going against Lewis's clearly expressed needs and wishes and trying to force him to attend a mainstream setting. We feel that this would put him at significant risk of harm and is more about saving money that doing what is best for Lewis.
Please sign our petition to demonstrate to the LA that they cannot ignore his needs and more importantly his voice just because he has a learning disability.

The Local Authority is still trying to bury Lewis in an environment that is actively hurting him just to balance their budget. Get this petition in front of everyone you know right now because we need to hit five hundred signatures before they think they can get away with ignoring us.

My son also has ADHD I know how difficult school is for him and needs alot of security time patience understanding and care the list goes on. Good luck.
I too have a son with learning difficulties. He went to mainstream college he didn't fit in and hasn't left the house since bullying he's now 31 and still don't go out unless it's to his grampies which is in a car ride.
The needs of this young adult should come above budgetary needs of the local council. He should be placed in a college setting that is suitable for his needs.
My nephew is a beautiful person inside and out. Lewis needs the chance of a life to make friends and feel like he has opportunities, which Lufton will give him. It shouldn't be about funding he deserves to have a choice. He didn't ask to be born with these conditions.
Lewis is my nephew and this would be perfect next step in his life. To gain independence and prove to people that doubted him that he can do things on his own in the future and be dependent. He is an amazing young man

This boy needs the school at Lufton - it will benefit him greatly and give the support he needs! It shouldn’t even be discussed for him to go to a mainstream school - teachers in a mainstream school/college sagging do not specialise in autism and related disabilities - don’t set this lovely young man back.
