Lewes District Council: Stop Supporting Hunting on boxing Day

Stop supporting animal cruelty!

I would just like to remind Lewes District Council that FOX HUNTING IS ILLEGAL!! and to allow Lewes High Street to be closed for the hunt on Boxing Day 2015 and beyond Lewes District Council will be showing tactical support of the Southdown & Eridge hunt. At present 80% of the populace are opposed to fox hunting and to allow this practice to continue is in complete opposition to the will of the majority of your constituents!

By association your are supporting the Southdown & Eridge (fox) Hunt by closing the Lewes High Street on Boxing Day 2015. Currently around 80% of the populace is opposed to fox hunting and silent approval of the violent intimidation tactics of their supporters against hunt monitors. Please reconsider your tacit support for the Hunt.

They are worse than the scum that organise dog fights. Why is this still allowed to happen?

Hunting has no place in modern society. It is the sport of the rich and is not only cruel and unethical for the fox, horses also get injured and abused by these ao called animal lovers.

It's well known hunters are going to use Boxing Day as a massive show of defiance against the hunting Act. Please don't collude by closing roads they intend to use

Good morning, I am extremely distressed to see that lewes district council are being seen to promote Fox hunting by closing the main rd on boxing day. I have been a regular visitor over many years, supporting local businesses from the artists workshops through to higher end retailers etc, while on holiday in the area. For the past year I have actively been looking at buying a house on or near Lewes high street. Not now....I have cancelled my christmas holiday in lewes and will no longer consider moving to live in Lewes. I do not want to stand on my doorstep and watch this obscene activity every year. I will be disseminating this information to a range of friends and colleagues and would politely request that the council withdraw their support of this event. Thankyou

Please stop supporting this bloody 'cull'. It's unbelievable that you would close your High Street on Boxing Day. I've heard on good authority that the hunts are 'lucky' if they butcher 1 fox. So it's not a Cull is it its just a group of cruel men and women who dress up and ENJOY torturing a defenceless animal. They're just bloodthirsty upper class excuses for human beings. You as a Council have a responsibility to stop this

Please stop supporting and encouraging this illegal and cruel activity, it cannot be called a sport. Set an example to our youth also, how can we hope for our young people to be law abiding citizens when they see councils flaunting the law for tradition.

So outdated, the world has moved on, so should they.

Stop this old and barbaric addiction, it is no hobby, a hobby is a fruitful and productive thing, You are just killing for the adrenaline and enjoyment, shame on you!!!!

Does anyone believe these hunts are trail hunting anymore?! The internet is awash with what is going on, only the most naive or corrupt would want to host or assist these criminals. If Lewes allows the fox hunt to parade then I hope they allow the same opportunity for hare coursers and badger baiters, but then I somehow doubt they move in the right sort of circles!!
