Going too far au. Government. A beautifully crafted piece of machinery that many appreciate. a bolt action can fire and reload just as quickly. Very dissapointing news

Have a look at Australian statistics on how many license gun owners have committed a serious firearm breach or used it in a violent wat

Banning an 1800s action is not the way forward. More funding for customs to better police illegal imports and increase the consequences for illegal firearms activities. The Sydney siege shooter had a sawn off shotgun - illegal gun and the shooter was not licensed - so the laws Abbott is trying to implement would make not 1 iota of difference to that scenario. How many mass shootings have we seen in the world with lever actions? Ever seen the mad minute performed with Lithgow 303s? There will be no limit to your reach unless we the people put a stop to your madness.

To react on the minorities thoughts is stupid listen to what real people have to say about gun laws. Yes maybe there should be a little tighter laws but not in this way this way will not fix anything it will just make it harder for the people that use guns in the correct safe and fun way. Guns are only as dangerous as the person using them, you could kill someone with something a lot less powerful and a lot more concealed than a gun.

Firearms owners are the most law abiding citizens a nation can have. In times of war it is a proven fact that nations that have supported the teaching of marksmanship have prepared citizens to be effective soldiers. Changing this law in relation to lever action rifles is again a knee jerk reaction. More people are murdered with kitchen implements and certainly more people are killed by vehicles. It's not the tool it's the person who uses it wrongly is to blame.

The Aus Government has gone too far as usual, first they set up Port Aurther to disarm us and take away our freedom, liberty & way of life, and now they're doing it again because of Man Harron ? who let him in the country ? who let him have a gun license and keep it after how many drama's and court hearing's etc with him ? certainly not the licensed Shooter's or even the rest of the population, just the good ol caring ( choke ) thoughtfull ( choked again ) politician's ! and if anyone actually think's that Martin Bryant was responsible for Pt Arthur then your in for a big surprise, google the Pt Arthur Conspiracy and make up your own mind, it'll certainly open it and your eye's hey.

This move by abbot is completely backwards. Target the criminals not the licences shooter. This move will not stop criminals possessing firearms.

Law abiding weapons owner have nothing to hide,,they are licenced, trained, and respect their weapons. They register them and secure them as per legislation and weapons requirements. Absolutely nothing to hide.

I am absolutely appalled by Tony Abbott's decision to halt the importation of the Adler and I have no intention of owning a shotgun, all my shooting is rifle based. Myself, along with my family and most of my friends, are disgusted at the erosion of the rights of the people who are at the core of this once great country, the law abiding, hard working citizens. It's the criminal and terrorist that will have the only firearms once ours are removed, yet you don't do anything to combat this, instead your actions are making a path to create this as a reality. Don't you know we would be on your side if you and your media and its sheep weren't perpetually against us? Pull your head in Abbott, leave law abiding citizens alone, leave the categories of firearms alone, and let the Adler be sold to law abiding firearm owners.

Spend more money on keeping out unregistered weapons from entering Australia and being sold on the black market. They are the threat, not registered weapons in the hands of citizens that follow the law.
