As a scout I always like to see a talented player play against the best competition for his age and this should be viewed by the WIAA as a opportunity to promote wisconsin prep hockey and not punish the student athlete for having the opportunity to represent his country. If WIAA hockey is going to continue to grow, situations like these need to be embraced and encouraged, not punished by the WIAA. If the WIAA doesn't adapt to the current climate of hockey it will continue to see its better players head to AAA programs! #lettyplay

Both are amateur level sporting competitions! We as a state should be honored with the invitation and accomplishment.

The difference here is this player is representing a national USA team and not a competitive peer level team.
This kind of rule is why hockey in Wisconsin will continue to be a step behind other states. We should embrace this opportunity. What an honor. Don't smash some kids hopes because you can't do what leaders should do... The right thing. Do this correctly and you will look like an awesome organization.
As a former high school and team Wisconsin goalie these are the moments you look forward to. Don't ask the kid to let down his school for an incredible chance.

Definitely feel strongly that as adults we sometimes have rules for safety and continuity... But this absolutely makes no sense. What a heart break to make it a choice when there is no need to do that!! Please repeal this decision!

The role of WIAA is out of line for oppressing opportunities to let talent work hard. Young athletes work hard and sacrifice to compete on multiple levels just to held down by bureaucracy of one entity. Update and get with the program so Wisconsin can represent hockey talent!

It is sickening to see a oversight committee tell a student athlete that because he is good at a game he loves he cannot compete with his friends. Just pathetic

I believe Ty should be able to play for both team USA and high school. Please don't penalize him for his personal success in hockey.

He should be allowed the honor of playing for his Country and continue to play for his own home team. I agree with the sentiment regarding allowing this young man to realize his full potential and showing him that he can dream big and make it happen. I'm sure his home team is counting on him and that would weigh heavy on a young man in light of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. ....The Youth Olympics...wow! He must have some talent.

By all means, let Ty play! My son is a senior at Memorial high school. I am very proud of the school and the pride that the kids have going there. Don't spoil it for this boy because he has two opportunities. Show him that the sky is the limit! BJT
