Ask President Stanley to Condemn Trump's Immigration Ban

It is high time the president rescind this travel ban. Free exchange of ideas and people are the things that make this country great.

Dr. Stanley, please condemn the outrageous ban implemented illegally by President Trump. Sincerely, Bert Bloch '73.

Please speak out against the Trump/Bannon authoritarian regime of racism.

The beauty of Stony Brook is the way it brings people from all different cultures and backgrounds together to share knowledge. This is something that makes me proud to be a Stony Brook alumni. Please take a stand to protect all members of the Seawolf community, regardless of what the government may say!

Dear President Stanley, Please speak out and condemn Trump's ban on immigrants and refugees.

President Stanley needs to show real leadership and confirm that international students are welcome at Stony Brook. By saying nothing, he is showing that he's okay with talented students being kept out of the country. We need these students as much as they need us. Don't turn your back on them. The visa approval process is already "extreme," and we have far more dangers in our own backyard than STUDENTS coming to LEARN.

University presidents, provosts & psyche chairs throughout the U.S. have decried this outrageous discriminatory immigration order, as has Gov. Cuomo. What's Stanley afraid of? Rocking the boat? Our voices need to sink it!

Academies needs to defend the constitution !!!

Dear President Stanley: we could debate back-and-forth whether the executive order is 'racist,' as the petition says, or just nationalist or something else. One thing that I believe we can agree with is that a legitimate State cannot eliminate the legal character of documents it has itself issued (such as green cards, permits, visas) without undermining its legitimacy. Analogies with the end of legitimate States in the European '20ies and '30ies suggest themselves. Where the the Law is no longer binding for the leaders, everything becomes possible. Thank you for taking a stance.

Protect the vulnerable.

It's hard to stand out because we are state universities subject to fundings from the state. But at least students could not be simply deported.

As an emeritus faculty member of Adelphi University I understand and appreciate the need for extreme courage at this tim. Please consider taking a stand and protect our democratic processes. Our laws are being highjacked by a would-be dictator. Thank you

I implore President Stanley to stand up for the rights of the SBU committee and where fungible laws conflict with steadfast moral principles, choose humanity.

Plz stop this order from trump.

Failing to stand up at this moment is not an option.

In times like these, it is up to people in a position of high power and reputation to stand against the injustice affecting the lives of many innocent individuals.

As a Stonybrook alumni (73, 85) I believe it is the duty of the university to be loudly outspoken in its opposition to Trump's xenophobic executive order. A quick and strong statement from your office to the White House is necessary to counter the inhumane and delusional behavior of Trump.

I am very concerned about the destructive post effects of this ban. It can affect all international and domestic students of USA.
