Letter to the Board of Trustees of Whittier College - Football, Lacrosse, Golf

Truly a ridiculous and blatantly uninformed decision by the Board and the President. A rich and storied history is about to be destroyed! Whittier will lose an untold number of potential students from its recruiting base. Unbelievably short sighted decision! So sad to have these people in charge of our institution!

I was a donor but never again!

Please reconsider these ridiculous decisions for the sake of sportsmanship, school spirit and alumni events which bring donors and families to the college.

Please stop disassembling this once amazing institution! 1998

Lacrosse. The only Nationally recognized group My math says athletic programs bring in Students. If none is an issue which it appears to be, this is a shot in your own foot. The head injury thing is rediculous. I'm feeling the elimination of perceived Privaledge.

Dropping these programs have nothing to do with what Whittier has stands for, it is to cover gross mismanagement. I spent my entire career in College Admissions at seven different colleges and universities. I know what good management looks like and what mismangement looks like and this is mismanagement. Cutting these programs are the slide toward the demise of our Alma Mater.

I am a former student athlete from California Lutheran University. Student athletes from all institutions can make major impacts and be exemplary ambassadors for your institution. The student athlete experience is so important, and I hope that Whittier College changes this unfortunate decision.

I sent both my children to Whittier, the school needs new leadership NOW!!!!

Stop trying to ruin Whittier College. I'm not going to entertain sending donations until the administration rectifies this situation. It's heartwarming to see the comments and support from my fellow poets.

To discontinue sports at our college is unbelievable. Please reconsider. It will be detrimental to the institution in so many ways

I’m class of 87 . Football is why I came to Whittier. I’ve been a Physical Fitness teacher for 34 years, this is not the direction OUR institutions should be going . You’re destroying a rich history . Bring back these solid programs .
