Letter to Danish Minister of Health against dismissal of Peter Gotzsche

Very disappointed with the Cochrane decision to dismiss Dr. Peter Gøtzsche.

Dr. Gøtzsche's support of accurate data & transparent clinical drug trials greatly benefits public health. Such endeavors, are, tragically, not always supported by medical professionals & the medical industry. Science suffers when critical thinkers are silenced.

Without taking position on the Cochrane dispute, I strongly believe that Dr Gotzsche has undisputably made an outstanding contribution to academic research on clinical trial transparency. (I'm the founder of TranspariMED and am very familiar with this field.)

This is about academic freedom. Regardless of our personal and professional views, people should not lose their job because their voice their opinions even when it is inconvenient (and, especially not when it is inconvenient, to paraphrase former US president Obama).

Unbiased information is necessary to counteract what Big Pharma produces and Peter Gotzsche plays a key role in combating misinformation from Big Pharma.

We need more Drs like Dr. Gøtzsche, not to stifle the voice of those who are making progress.

Big food and big Pharma are killing us all for profit. Time to stand up and change the world.

Please do not let hidden agenda defeat the search for truth and knowledge! Our world needs to recover trust in "truth" and in true processes.

I support this petition.

A good doctor is one who considers patients' health more important than prescribing useless medicines, which treat symptoms but keep people sick. Dr. Gotzsche is a terrific doctor with the medical oath in mind and heart. Firing him would not only be said for him and his family but will bring shame to an institution, whose job is to improve health rather than prescribe medications. A dismissal for someone as a result of trying to do the best job he can, which conflicts with the financial interest of the institution, is not only ethically and morally wrong, but opens the door to investigation of that institution.

How can "making too much noise"'be a firing offense? In science, and in the fight for truth, it is sometimes necessary to make noise to be heard.

For the sake of public interests and health, we must allow for robust scientific debate!

No team can succeed if there is no freedom of expression and tolerance of diverse opinions.

Please keep a proper scientist onboard!
