As a nationally certified interpreter (RID CI/CT), I can attest to having both Deaf and non deaf instructors throughout my education and the impact each had on my learning ASL, Deaf Culture and becoming an interpreter. Deaf instructors brought lived experiences and teachings I would never have found with non deaf instructors. I am a better signer because of Deaf instructors. I am a better Interpreter because of Deaf instructors.

I took my ASL courses from a Deaf teacher. It was amazing. Only Deaf instructors should be considered. They live the deaf life and understand the culture like no hearing person ever could.
