Dear Marla:
As a member of the model aviation community I fully support the efforts of the Alleghany Highlands Economic Development Corporation to obtain funding to create several “drone friendly” venues in the Alleghany Highlands. Having permanent, and protected, flying fields in communities is continuing a tradition started by the Academy of Model Aeronautics 80 years ago.
I would certainly frequent the flying fields proposed for the Alleghany highlands, for both sanctioned races, and fun fly events. With thousands of pilots in the region, this will be a benefit to both the region and the citizens.

Marla and the team she is working with are innovators. This technology will bring a ton of new economic activity to the area and I am grateful for their work...

AMA number 737921. Since already existing AMA fields and members refuse to include this section of the hobby because of their indifference, superiority complex, the publics ridiculous and unfounded fear of "drones", it only makes sense that drone/sUav airfields and designated areas be setup to accommodate these enthusiasts. Thank you.
