We need a 100% standard option in the next Newton Power Choice Contract. Many people in Newton can afford to opt up to 100%, and those who can't have options that would not impact them financially. As we know, our planet is in trouble and a city like Newton needs to do its part -- and more -- to avert climate disaster. Let our city be a leader, not a wimp.

I strongly support the call for Newton to make 100% renewable the default in our next electricity contract.

We can afford this. Those who have been hit hard by Covid and lost jobs or businesses should be told about the 50% Electricity discount they can get through the R-2 discount rate and low income community solar. The rest of us can easily pay two cups of coffee per month more for renewable electricity. Those who don’t want to can opt down or opt out.

Mayor Ruth Fuller City of Newtonn Dear Mayor Fuller, The City of Newton havils often taken the lead in the Commonwealth in advancing social justice and public health. I strongly encourage you to lead the city now in the fight against rapid climate change by supporting a 100% renewable option for our 32,000 households. Be the leader we need you to be. Future generations will judge you and all of us alive now on the steps we take now to fight for their future. Sincerely, Kenneth A. Fully support going to 100% renewables as the default. The cost of not doing so is too high. Climate change is already upon us.

Follow the behavioral economists (and your kids and scientists) on this!

Newton must live up to its self-professed model community title by making this crucial change to combat the worsening climate crisis.

Important to heed the social science about opt-out and opt-in choices. It was pathetic that only 7% of Newton opted-in last time around. Make it an opt-out choice

Mayor Fuller, please change the default to 100%. It's the right thing to do for Newton residents, the state, and our world.

We've seen what happens when our leaders fall behind in dealing with a crisis. Climate Change is a bigger crisis than Coronavirus. We are still playing "catchup"

We have invested in making our home fossil-fuel free. But to make real change requires action at the governmental level. This initiative would show the way for other localities.

Newton needs to take bold climate action to do our part to protect the Earth and future generations.

It is incredibly important that we support this action for our children and their children. Most people in this city can afford it and others can opt down.

This is one of the most important ways that Newton can achieve its goals to change to renewable energy to mitigate the climate crisis.

Please help us meet our goals as a city - it's key that we have 100%, while it's also key that we let our less fortunate/fix income neighbors know there are ways to limit the cost. Thank you, Mayor Fuller!
