In the face of Oklahoma having left PARCC, the repealing of Common Core standards (effectively leaving OAS), a pending law-suit over the same, the firing of testing vendor McGraw-Hill, can't we just let Oklahoma schools take a year off from state testing? Kids will still come to school, teachers will still teach and do what is right for students as per their grade level. After the traumatic years of funding cuts, high stakes test prep, failed state tests, faulty test scoring, unreliable tests scores and third grade retention - just to name a few of the ills plaguing Oklahoma in recent years - schools could use a breather and spend a year effectively teaching and learning instead.
My daughter comes home crying every single day because of these tests. Let the teachers get back to actually teaching instead of just teaching to a test that doesnt even work right. Give them a break already.
