The undersigned are dedicated to a truly free public education for the students of Waterloo, IA. The taxpayers have generously, continuously re-invested in the schools so that all children can receive the best education possible. The money generated from the student parking fees are unfair for all students, but especially the students from families that are economically disadvantaged. The parking funds are not used for parking lot maintenance...instead that become a de facto fundraiser for the building administrator. While the money funds worthy causes it's not fair to ask just those students that drive to school to fund these causes. We don't charge students to use the hallways, cafeteria or athletic fields so why are we holding out a subset of students to pay for a benefit from the Waterloo taxpayers. Please sign your name so that we can remove roadblocks, literally in this case, for our least fortunate students and their families.
