I love travelling by sea. Also it solves traffic congestion.

Use it regularly to commute from Sliema to Valletta . Suggest a cheaper minivan service for commuters esp senior citizens and other vulnerable members of society .

Alternatives routes; using more efficiently the existing infrastructure; limiting car traffic; maybe metro...???

Would it also be possible to put on extra buses when the ferry cant run or better still make improvements to the boarding/landing system so that the ferry downtime is reduced

seems such an obvious answer to present day road congestion! But needs to be carefully managed so not to pollute and congest waterways too!

Travelled from Bormla to Sliema & back by ferry yesterday. It was such a pleasant journey. No traffic jams & no worries to find a parking space. Please increase these services to and from other parts of Malta - forward & upwards!!

Make the the coastline round Malta a pedestrian area only with wide promenades and outdoor seating for cafes, bars and restaurants. And use water Taxi's and ferries for coastal access.

Much nicer than driving. I would use it.

Like Gerald has said, this is a not a practical issue but a monopolistic one. Maybe the petition should read "end the monopoly"!

The only reason there are limited ferry services is because of the monopolistic harbour ferry contract and port notices which prevent any new services. In particular, Sliema would be an important hub, yet only on operator is permitted to land there. There is huge potential for services from St George's Bay, Spinola and coastal Sliema to Sliema in Marsamxett and Valletta. Also to Senglea, Kalkara and Rinella for Smart City but none of this is permitted by Transport Malta Port Notices.

Traffic congestion in Malta is shocking. An extended ferry service in the is long overdue.
