New Mexico Business Coalition (NMBC) is grateful for Governor Lujan Grisham’s proactive response to the Coronavirus which produced relatively low infection and death rates as compared to other states. To accomplish this, however, our businesses were shut down with virtually no notice, no discussion, and no time for planning. Due to the mandatory shut down of all nonessential businesses, over 90,000 New Mexicans are unemployed and businesses are struggling. As a signer of this petition, I assert that every business is essential because every business offers an opportunity for people to provide for themselves and their families.
While mandatory business closure requirements have been clear, there was and still is no plan on how the state will remove the mandates and allow businesses to reopen. NMBC has provided Governor Lujan Grisham a safe, sensible and incremental plan for reopening businesses and other facilities. This plan allows the Governor and her team to closely monitor progress as it is implemented and provides off ramps, if problems are encountered.

Just let us get back to work. We are smart enough to social distance without the state telling us how to live.
The small businesses are getting crushed while the big boxes stay open. Makes zero sense.
We need a plan. People are loosing everything theyve worked years to build. This isnt sustainable.
My local shop is dying. We cant keep doing this forever. Let people work
