Public education needs the full support of the state and why has it take. So long for the state to care?

As a former teacher in the Christina School District it is time the DOE consulted TEACHERS on what they need to help students succeed as they face greater and greater challenges with educating students who come to school with more and more challenges that stem from outside of the school environment that has a direct impact on their learning.

At the very least these youngsters deserve careful, deliberate non-rushed planning to reorganize their schools. There also needs to be adequate resources, and that is what has always been the missing ingredient. If you are not going to fund the additional needed staff and technology then just go home!

From what I have been seeing in the past few months, it seems as tho Markell is trying to make his legacy in something. He tried to push a barely investigated plan around teacher salary and now, even tho he told me on the phone for about 10 min how eager he and his people are to work with both the Christina and Red Clay School Districts on this potential "take-over" plan. From the looks of it, I feel as tho he straight up lied to me to just appease me. When the govt spends so much time studying and considering things before they make a law, choose a decision, etc., why is it he and his people are in such a hurry to implement this. As someone else mentioned a few posts ago, there has been issues brought up lately about charter schools and the Red Clay district, so wouldn't it make sense to make sure that any decisions being made take into consideration that argument that is out there? Just my two cents......

As someone who is about to start teaching, and considering where I want to teach, I support this petition because I believe it poses a better outcome for all students, teachers, and principals involved.
