We, the citizens of India, pride ourselves in being one of the World's Oldest Civilization and most importantly the World's largest Democracy. This is something every Indian cherishes when compared to other parts of the world where democracies are under constant threat.

The Parliament of India which is the Temple of this democracy depicts the will and mandate of people. Protest is no doubt part of a healthy democracy and the same is common to Parliament but certainly not the ones that causes paralysis as it strikes at the foundations of a belief called democracy.

Both the Government and the opposition have no doubt an important part to play based on political consensus but recent behaviour in parliament is not only disheartening but seems to insult the faith of us citizens and shake the long established rich history of Indian Parliamentary Democracy.

This behaviour of perpetual disruption can have a carry over effect to even the states and disastrous for the country. The importance of uninterrupted legislative function of the Parliament is critical and important laws like the Goods and Services Tax Bill which can shape and drive India's future being stalled hurts the nation, economy and citizens. India has to leverage the unique position it has in world arena today with such a large intelligent young population which is its asset.

Apart from GST it is also important for the Parliament to sit and discuss important issues facing the nation such as security, natural calamities, social development measures, economic priorities and so on. Every session of Parliament also causes huge cost to the exchequer which is again spent from taxes paid by lawful and hardworking employed and self employed citizens of this great country.

It is unfortunate that we have to remind today but it is necessary for us to urge all the Members of Parliament whom we have elected for a great purpose and the political parties they are part of to come together in the Parliament and allow the Parliament to function, to discuss, debate and legislate and pass the GST Bill without any further delay in larger interest of the nation and economy.
