I surfed my Valaric in Dophin Island, Orange Beach, Destin, up and down 30A and now in South Carolina. Each and every year my salary is fatter than that guy is round.

I was written a ticket my Officer Decker several years back for surfing too close to the pier (even though a lifeguard had told Officer Decker that he did not believe I was within 200 feet from the pier). I went to court and Officer Decker did not even bother to pursue it. I was shocked about how many stories from people I have come to learn about him targeting other surfers. Since then I have graduated Law School and am now a lawyer in VA.. Maybe the solution to stop Officer Decker needs to be filing a civil lawsuit to prevent him from further harassing conduct.

I think the free surf lessons would be helpful for him to have a whole new respect for the water and surfers.

Virginia Beach's economic growth and stability relies on events like ECSC. As a city employee, officer Decker should be celebrating a positive pass time like surfing and understand that we are tax payers and provide this city with its wealth, including his salary.

Another option is community service : volunteer at Life Rolls On, Wounded Warriors, Surfing for Autism or Surf for a Cure. Join our amazing VB surf community paying it forward with kindness and sharing the stoke!

not a surfer but after reading the comments I'm glad to help the surfers out. Let's give Officer Decker some lessons to lighten that spirit of his.

Guy gave me a ticket when I wasn't even close to the pier. I still wasn't as mad as him.

I'm hoping that this is being forwarded to the VB Police Department so that it's Human Resources Dept. can find a more suitable placement for Mr. Decker. In many cases the police officer is an ambassador for the City and Mr. Decker seems to fail miserably in this role. Take his bike and boat away and put him behind a desk.

Terrible representation of the VBPD. Cannot believe the ignorance in his statement.
