Paul needs to come back! He is the only Police Chief that Genoa city needs

Mr. Davidson & his character, Paul Williams, were on Y&R for over 40 years! If Jeanne Cooper were still with us, her character of Katherine Chancellor would have been the only one on the show longer than Mr. Davidson. Mal Young has had a record number of vets from Y&R either no longer receiving scripts, dropped or just plain let go with no warning or remarks as to why. Fans watch to see their longtime characters, who are basically family to them, having them in their home a minimum of an hour a day 5 days per week. To suddenly no longer see someone on the show, with NO explanation either in storyline or via social media, is jarring. It's the same as if they suddenly vanished or died mysteriously without ever seeing their body. And there's no excuse for it! Bringing in new characters was something William Bell was great at, as he wove their coming into a storyline seamlessly, connecting the new characters with others already on campus. Bell did not shove the new characters down viewers' throats, either, but SLOWLY brought them into our stories until we were waiting to see what this person was going to do. If they were favorably accepted, they were kept on. If not, they were written out or died off. Sometimes our great characters were killed off (David Kimble, Cassie Newman, Detective Harding), which broke our hearts, but we survived. But these characters were still beloved & greatly missed. Right now, that's Paul Williams. He'd FINALLY gained his rightful place as the chief of Genoa City PD. To drop him completely just to bring in a smartassed jerk who's going around acting like he's some hotshot detective or cop (which IS he, anyway?) & NOT having him answer to the Chief of Police is NUTS! PAUL is in charge, not Rey, & we NEED Paul returned to Y&R, because the actor playing Rey has been an ass toward fans online if you say anything about his character. BRING PAUL BACK! Let me give you and CBS some Y&R history to his importance. Back in 1987-88, fan faves Brenda Dickson (original Jill) and Terry Lester (original Jack) left Y&R. In desperation, as ratings continued to dip, Bill Bell wrote Doug Davidson a storyline ("Who Murdered George Rawlins?") and the show hit its first #1 rating and it never looked back. When the writers throw Doug Davidson the ball, Y&R scores!

Please bring Doug Davidson back to Y&R!!! I’ve been a viewer since I was 12 in 1976 and I am upset and disgusted that he has been removed along with many of the veterans on the show. New people are fine and of course new people are needed from time to time but the changes that have been made by the most recent writer are terrible. Bring back our Doug!!!
