A lot of the students as well as staff have benefited from a Wednesday flex day. It has been very helpful to my kids. Please consider keeping it.

We are going to have teachers who leave the district. Someone mentioned in a previous comment that they didn’t enroll their students because of how the district treated their teachers. Other districts have creatively and humanely considered the impact on teachers, staff, students, and administrators and made different choices. Our teachers, who’ve worked incredibly hard to meet the needs of all students, deserve better. The Board can’t have it both ways (remote/in person) with no other accommodations/support. I strongly urge the Board to reconsider this decision.

We completely support this. Please keep in mind it was not a unanimous vote but the majority won. Hoping you get all the signatures needed to present this amendment back to the board. I think some board members would continue to support this.

A board member said that if we go back to four or five day instruction then in theory the need for the flex day would go away. Respectfully, I disagree. Until we are back to ALL students back in person, the need to teach and connect with remote students will not go away and the need to adapt our lessons will not change. The district has hundreds of remote students and it is not “practicable” to ask teachers to stop having double duty to teach both. We don’t have enough teachers as is- who would teach these remote students?

I find it appalling that our BOE does not follow advice from the trained professionals in our school system. Nor can I fathom how they can move to full-time in person instruction for students without being able to keep them safe. 6' apart?!? I will be making sure that there are new faces on the Board with upcoming elections.

Without the flex day, our most struggling students will suffer. This one on one time with teachers is a critical time for them. Also, teachers need this time to create lessons for remote students. Don't take this away from our most vulnerable students.

I sign this petition to support our teachers and our students. Are we looking for normal who isn't. There are still parents today who are making a decision to keep their children remote for whatever reason. You are now taking away the chance for these students to make meaningful connections with their teachers to keep their school work in line. You are now asking teachers to take even more time away from their own lives more than they already do to meet with students after hours of school. I do not want to see our dictrict loose amazing teachers and staff because they are so burned out it is impossible to do their jobs. I also don't want to see families being forced to make even more difficult decisions because their students are falling behind. Please keep Flex Wednesday.

Our teachers are working hard every day and have done everything that's been asked of them during this time. They NEED this flex day to plan and put together lessons for their in person and remote students, of which there are still many. When our superintendent, principals and teachers tell us how important this day is for them we must listen. The situation we are in right now is not ideal but I know our teachers are doing their very best to meet every student's need. Let's help them continue to do that.

I am concerned about so much mask time and agree that keeping Weds. As a stay-at-home flex day is a good compromise.
