In this unpresciented time, teachers and admins need time to prep for in person and virtual lesson plans (as many students will still be participating from home) that are two distinct set of audiences, requiring different technical, communication, and resource needs. Resident, not a parent, not a teacher, or admin,

I sincerely hope the board takes this request seriously. Many of our teachers are being tasked with educating both remote and in-person students. In order to do this successfully, they must have a flex day - to prepare lessons and materials, to meet with students who are struggling, to hold staff meetings, etc.
I think, if you were to survey the staff, you would find that many depend heavily on this time and frankly, are wondering how they will manage without. It will be to the detriment of all of our students if teachers lose this time.

I am all for our children's education but, feel ar this time it's imperative for both teachers & students to continue with Wednesday's being a FLEX day. Choose to support our teachers before we lose their dedication to our children, families & community.

Our teachers are working under conditions that are dangerous, unfair and unanticipated in any contract. We need to be able to listen to them and integrate their ideas into our plans to the greatest extent possible. Their experience is precious and I believe the best way forward must balance instruction with safety while avoiding burnout and it must start with them.

My daughter utilizes this day to connect with teachers and get extra help because the teachers are so busy trying to tackle in person students and remote students. Wednesday is really her catch up day with her teachers to help her improve her understanding of her work. Please keep the Wednesday’s flex.

My children are not enrolled at this time. One of the reasons we decided to opt out of the district was because of the lack of consideration for teacher well-being and mental health and the effect that indirectly has on our children. This is just one more example witnessed from the sidelines of expecting teachers to go above and beyond while providing weak supports. The flex day isn't even a chance to breathe, but a chance to maybe not have to drag work home to consume family time, down time, the time to unplug and decompress.
This is a matter of quality over quantity. Make the time in person really count for something instead of forcing staff to be either half assed or burnt out. The children are going to feed off of these energies and they too do not need yet one more variable causing them stress or anxiety.

Me and my kids have come to rely upon the Wednesday flex days to work on assignments and do some of my son's required IEP sessions; as there has been no room for these sessions to be scheduled during the other week days. I also feel that taking away the flex day will create an undue hardship on the teachers.

I believe this day is a MUCH needed day for both staff AND students! This is a situation like we’ve never had before, please do not add to the stress and teacher burn out. Give them this day to catch up on all the tasks mentioned above.
