As a student flex days are important for both online and in person students. It’s a time for students to get extra help on assignments and work on things they are struggling with to make sure they are competent. A lot of student think it’s important to keep this day especially with how far behind many kids fell during remote

Flex days are not a day off!! Unless your student is performing well and all caught up on their work....even then they will still have some check-ins to attend throughout the day. It is a time for students at home to receive one on one instruction (if needed, or sought out) that they cannot attain during class. Teachers spend the first half of the day meeting with the students, making sure they are up to speed. Remote kids are doing the same work as their in person counterparts... but having to submit photos of their work, notes, etc, that a teacher would normally see or witness during the course of an in person class. I can only imagine the amount of extra work this has created for them. Based on conversations I have had with parents in other area schools, it seems many are implementing different variations of the hybrid and remote models, so you really cannot compare one school to another across districts. There are pros and cons to all of them. My daughter has been fully remote since the start of the Pandemic.... she intends to remain fully remote until things go back to "notrmal". She loves it. Idon't feel like she is behind at all.... in fact, I feel she is ahead of the curve thanks to this experience. Like anything else in life, they get out of it what they put in to it. The teachers and administrators are doing a fantastic job given the circumstances. If they are telling us they need this day, and the students are echoing those same sentiments, why would we take it away?

We shouldn’t be live learning until everyone’s vaccinated. The science is clear when you compare the percent positive in states that are already live to we here in NH that have acted conservatively.

Keeping the flex day seems like a logical, prudent way to incrementally move forward with the reopening phases. I sincerely hope the school board reconsiders keeping the flex day during phase 5.

My family has the utmost respect for the teachers today. Especially our son teachers. They work extremely hard in class and remotely to give our kids the best education possible. They need flex day to continue. They don't have an easy job right now and they need this time on flex day to prepare our children's education.

I believe if the teachers need this flex day in order to adapt their lesson plans to help those learning remotely and not get burnt out in an already stressful time

This day is a much needed day away from the confines of the classroom along with all of the new protocols in place that have unfortunately made schools have more of an institutional feel as opposed to that of an academic environment. Teachers need this day to keep curriculum current and updated. This also allows the opportunity to help those who might have individualized needs. Parents can use this time to monitor how there children are doing with school work and to hopefully be able to address any concerns that might arise during the week.

I think keeping flex days for our teachers is very important. I also feel it is important to keep this day because we are still in a pandemic. This day should be used for more thorough disinfecting of the school than is possible while students are there or in the few hours at the end of the day
