I understand that Paul and Ringo feel that re-releasing the film would show The Beatles in a negative light. The truth of the matter is The Beatles broke up, so all the film shows is the truth. Fans have the film anyway, with all its flaws but in less than great quality. This is the chance to release a definitive edition of this great musical film, with extra footage in pristine quality. There really are only two moments in the film that hint at the extreme tension in the group: The Paul and George argument (which even ended up partially in Anthology) and a bored-looking John listening to Paul trying to get him excited about future plans (right before the in studio performance of "Two Of Us" with Paul on acoustic guitar). If they feel these moments are just too personal for mass consumption they can replace them with more musical moments not in the original. For the end of the film, there can even be a note about ABBEY ROAD being the next project so that people aren't left sad at the end (it wasn't really over -- yet). The music and performances in the film are top rate and this film and The Beatles themselves deserve to let the whole story be told. In 1970 it was a sad footnote. In 2014 it would be a welcome addition to The Beatles' catalog and be hailed a lost classic. There's also no question it would sell. Please put this out Apple.

I've been a Beatles fan my whole life, and I believe that this film is a piece of history that must be seen. I for one have always wanted to see it, even though I know that it contains footage of the increased tension before the band's breakup. It would be very sad to see the events leading to the breakup of the greatest band the world has ever known, but it would be comforting to know that their legacy lives on in fans like us. We need to see this film. We all do.

No matter personal differences and periodical bad atmosphere, the end product is a work of art, very good on its own terms, often a favorite of mine, actually. It's a shame it's not yet available - in pristine DVD quality. Please publish!
