It would be very interesting to know where the million dollar grant for the drought for Benauer has been spent drains footpath’s bike paths definitely hasn’t been spent there

Seems like a duplicate of something we already have here that is underused. Given that covid restrictions will be in place for a long time to come it would be much more sensible to provide the community with something outside

There are some necessary infrastructure needs that should come first like footpaths and drainage

The present ugly tacked on extension to the museum building is to be replaced (?!) by an even uglier, totally unsympathetic, oversized version that will even further obliterate the historic building. It will overpower the nearby lakeside area and ceramic mural , first view of the town centre , while crossing our listed Monash - designed bridge. We have not been allowed input into such a radical change to the look of our town. Hastily approving a business person’s proposal, because it fits a Government grant scheme, is not the way to improve our town. Our lakeside environs are, I believe, the most beautiful in Victoria. Overdevelopment will ruin our most precious asset. We must stop this proposal in its present form.

Proper consultation with community and transparency of information used to make this decision is desperately needed.

I am a taxi driver in Benalla. The roads, gutters and driveways are an absolute disgrace in this town. Fix them before worrying about a cinema and Cafe. Too busy catering to the arty-farty mob.

We don't need to duplicate this facilitiy. Let private enterprise take on a cinema and it would be better for council to focus on promoting our existing options.

There are many more local towns the just these mentioned that don't have footpaths or places for kids and people to play and exercise. Winton is another. There are not even footpaths to the local school and the school continually has to pay for the professional poisoning of ants on council property because the council's response is to sprinkle a little ant sand on massive bull ants nests where parents have to get kids in and out of cars. We have requested yellow flashing lights be installed in our school zone signs because 80% of traffic speed thru our school and we get told no. We offered to fundraise to pay for it and get told no. Wi ton motor raceway has gone above and beyond purchasing their own sign and putting it up in their yard to remind people leaving to slow down.

There are more important things to be spending our money on around the town than this project, drainage, there are many streets in Benalla where the water doesn't drain away after it rains, it lays there till it evaporates, old brick gutters that are useless, footpaths, roadways, just a few more important items the council should be attending to.

I have spoken about this before but the stormwater guttering & drainage system urgently needs attention in Benalla.
Eg sinkholes around Lake Benalla, & other issues listed in previous comments this should be a top priority.
Strange how the guttering & stormwater drainage system has been Heritage listed but none of the beautiful old streets have a Heritage overlay on them, it was looked at in 1993 after the flood, nothing more has been done since then.
This is what will preserve the character of the town & attract business.
Is the money allocated to upgrade the Visitors Centre given by State Gov.
specifically for this purpose & there maybe a delay in it be forthcoming from the State gov. due to the Covid pandemic?

Considering the Covid pandemic which we will have with us for some years, I believe for it to be a safe venue it would need to be an outdoor venue. I can see why by the lake is the best place. Has the regular flooding of the area been built into the equation.
The other query is what will happen to the BPAC?. The reason it is catering for very few people and losing money you must admit Covid19 has badly impacted on the revenue. Perhaps live theatre needs to be focused on and community groups using it more often. The Cafe at BPAC is rarely if ever open to the public or even to take students, This venue has not been utilised to its full potential.
Until these things are looked at and discussed with ratepayers in an open forum, I believe it should be stopped until Benalla & surrounding districts can be heard.

Benalla does not need a second cinema as BPACC is already a great asset. We are able to enjoy the Swanpool cinema & all it has to offer for our enjoyment. The ratepayers money would be better spent on roads & footpaths.

The cinema we have now is wonderful, waste money to build a new one and the town is full of coffee vans and cafe's

Nope, we don't need it under the current conditions. How about spending some of that money on the poor quality water mains so we can get more than an drip out of the taps in some areas of Benalla? Most water tank users surrounding Benalla have better pressure. Might I remind the Council that we pay higher rates than many outer suburbs of Melbourne. It's about time the basic infrastructure matched the fees we pay.

There is far more important things to spend money on. Just put in public toilets at the splash park as there should already be some there, it’s the only splash park in Victoria I have been to that was opened without toilets.

Also, the new park is no good for small children anymore. This needs more work

BPACC is a fantastic facility, why not continue to use it
