The school board confirmed today that both the boys and girls lacrosse teams are cleared to play all home games in the stadium moving forward. We have reached our objective and will now shift our focus to monitoring the field scheduling process to ensure the transition remains smooth.

Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the nation. Evidence of this can be found right here in Oxford. Oxford Youth Lacrosse serves boys and girls in K thru 8th grade residing in the Oxford School District. The league has been in existence for 6 years and has experienced year over year growth. In addition to the growth, we have an ever increasing amount of youth that have made year long commitments to lacrosse by also participating in club programs. In other words, lacrosse is here to stay!

This is the first year that we have kids who began playing in our recreational league that are now in the high school programs. In the next few years our program will be feeding more and more advanced players into the high school program. We are looking to ensure that high school lacrosse receives the support within our district that it is due.

We are one of the only high school lacrosse programs within the ChesMont league that does not have turf fields but that also does not play games in the stadium. As one of the biggest youth sports leagues in Oxford, we feel that the district should highlight its support of this growing sport by allowing both the boys and girls high school lacrosse teams play games within the stadium.

The administration has acknowledged the growing volume of signatures and agreed to a formal meeting to discuss facility access. I am currently preparing the documentation regarding our league growth to present during this session.

I think they should get a few games under the lights. Gives the kids something to do at night.

We want our High School players to be taken seriously not only in the league but especially with college recruitment. Could film during games and invite scouts with a better image by playing in a stadium.

Fields are there for our children to use. To learn. To grow. These children are the future of the high schools and should be treated as such. The memories they create now will stay with them. The skills they cultivate now, will stay with them. And will be put to good use in playing for these high schools in the future. So let the children play and invest in their and in your future.

Please, let them play at the stadium! So much of it would be utilized , from the field to the stands to the concessions!
