If the council concentrated their energy on tackling the silly man and his hideous visions on the pier maybe others, such as the owners of The East Beach Hotel, could get on with trying to run a business. This is a hotel and I think that the patrons would rather have uPVC windows protecting them from the seafront noise and weather. When are listings departments going to employ sensible business minded people rather jobsworths with attitude.

I believe that we should live with our time. Modern double glazing windows are needed for the comfort of its customers but also for environmental issues. It makes sense to fit every windows to reduce the wastage of heat through the gaps of the Victorian Windows.
The use and disposal of paint is also an issue for the recycling of chemicals. Having double glazing will spare this trouble.
I believe that East Beach hotel is participating to bring business to Eastbourne consequently creating jobs for the town.
I sign this petition to ensure another good business stays open without the opposition of few councillors.

I smell a rat here- could it be this councillor Colin Murdoch? Businesses across Britain are facing an uncertain future at the moment and everyone agrees that it is vital to keep people in employment, so why is the council undermining this one? I have lived in listed buildings for most of my life and am committed to conserving them, where possible, but sometimes common sense must prevail. Better to keep the building in use, with modern windows, than let it become derelict and an eyesore.

This is just plain stupid and a waste of out council tax. Smacks of a jobs worth and this council er should hang his head in shame and get a life. I think the hotel looks very nice as it is and with the weather and sea spray the windows it has now are much better and will stay looking nice for much longer. This council member should be sacked.

Surely it is better to be open with the windows it has, than closed because no one will put the very expensive windows in.

I think you should allow the hotel to stay open and I feel it's disgraceful that a family run business will yet again be slated my the council.
