I know how planning committees can completely destroy a seaside town due to their negative attitudes and lack for forward thinking. I know live in a town with derelict and boarded up hotels and businesses.

This is yet another example of the unacceptable face of bad council planners and councils in general. Very like the unions that lose the jobs of their members. Here we have the same in my view criminal activity just because they can ! With no concern as to the jobs they destroy.

I lived in Eastbourne for years, the place deserves investment and not stupid rules. Council are off the page with this one

Unnecessary interference. You'd think Eastbourne Council would have far more important things to spend ratepayers money on.

If this is true - Cllr Murdock should be made to resign - if he was party, in any way, to the potential gazzumping and not declare his interest to the other Councillors (if he had declared an interest to the other Councillors they should all be made to step down).

Same problem here. (Darlington) Improved premises by installing double glazed windows-security after bricks thrown thr' single glazed.Recommendation of police.Area full of double glazed windows.Retrospective planning refused,going to appeal.If that fails will brick windows up.New windows really improved area.,but council say no.My sympathies.

EBC should spend less time and money on things like this and sort out getting better shops into the new Arndale Centre which would then bring more people into the town..... That's if they eventually carry on with the next phase...

I bring groups to this hotel and think this situation is ridiculous. The hotel made improvements which greatly benefit their holidaymakers and everyone agrees the hotel looks fantastic... except busybodies at the council who have to be seen to be awkward to justify their jobs. Please let this fabulous hotel continue to trade with their current windows and don't run them into the ground with your pettiness. All of my groups think the new windows are a vast improvement.

The Council has been influenced by a Councillor with a personal interest. Additionally Eastbourne needs to encourage hoteliers who look after their properties, and generate repeat business and loyalty to the town. It is the Council's responsibility to attract business, not repel it as this decision will do unless overturned

This decision should be overturned since undue influence was brought by Councillor Murdoch who had a vested interest in this case. Should not have had anything to do with the case!
