This is an extremely petty move on the part of the council. Nobody can tell the windows have been changed without very close scrutiny, it doesn't affect the overall appearance of the building, & shouldn't matter..

The East Beach is an absolutely lovely building and enhances the entire sea front.
What the hell is going on with the Planning Office? There are FAR MORE problems with the filthy state of the Town Centre and surrounding areas that the Council should be sorting out!
This hotel is an asset to the sea front!

This feels malicious to me. The East Beach has greatly improved its appearance adding to the sense that Eastbourne has a thriving tourism industry rather than the sadly shabby towns I recently documented in my recent trip of 80 days around the coast of Britain.
Most other hotels on that stretch of seafront have new more effective windows than wood. How will Heidi being repossessed reflect on the town?

Let this hotel keep their new windows. A closed hotel on the seafront would be appalling and really, what difference does if make?

Having stayed at the East Beach over the last 6 years I have seen first hand the many improvements that Heidi has made to the hotel. The new windows only improve on the appearance of,the,hotel. The old sash windows were rotten and draughty. The new windows help keep the bedrooms warmer in the colder months and also lessen the noise of the road etc. They certainly have not had a negative effect on the asthectics of the building or the surrounding areas. It would be a travesty to allow a business to fail because of bureaucracy, I hope Eastbourne Borough council see sense

I have stayed at the Eastbeach Hotel numerous times and can truthfully say that the new UPVC windows are a vast improvement on what was there before. In my mind they look very similar to the ones that they have replaced. What exactly is the rationale behind the Eastbourne Council's demands that the windows are replaced with wooden ones? If they were unsightly or not in keeping with the character of the building I could understand it but that certainly isn't the case here.If anything they serve only to enhance the overall appearance.

Due to the salt air wooden windows would not be a satisfactory option, the windows that have been replaced are of good quality and do not take any character away from this building, the East Beach Hotel is a very clean and inviting establishment which is a asset to the town.

What on earth is going on here? This hotel has been transformed from the relative dump that it was fifteen years ago to a very comfortable and attractive hotel. When I first stayed here, the windows were either painted up or I had to block the draughts with a towel. The decor was terribly old and the furniture very uncomfortable - particularly the beds. As someone who has visited the hotel virtually every year since, I can confirm that the huge upgrade that the establishment has undergone has been very pleasing. What is it about local councillors? Can they not see the improvement in the appearance of the East Beach Hotel? I really don't get it but it gives me a very uneasy feeling.

This is just going to put people out of work and the owners out of business. The windows have already been replaced with long lasting ones the council should be happy that this business is still open.
