The hotel looks smart and is not painted an offensive colour so I don't actually see what the problem is. No one wants expensive wooden windows these days that need repainting every 2 years.

I think the hotel looks great. wooden frames would not change anything in fact would get rotten very soon! Is this how the council show "support for local businesses ?" Having small business myself that really make me upset!!

The sash windows are preferable in keeping with the building. However, if it is going to inpact in the business to this high cost. Then why cannot the council give them a grant.

Good luck. Maybe the council should keep its eyes on the pier instead of this debacle.

It is difficult enough for Hotels this day an age when the trade is dying out. This hotel looks very smart, in fact one of the smartest on the seafront. Wooden windows are just not practical on the seafront. What advantage is there in having wooden windows?

Surely a smart well kept hotel on Eastbourne seafront is a bonus for the town and local tourism. Please just leave it to carry on its good work providing local jobs and maintaining a well kept presence on the seafront. We need to support local business owners not destroy them!

Ebc planning are ridiculous, I live in the same conservation as Eastbourne College....living 3 floors up we couldn't change our broken and dangerous windows to affordable safe ones but the college can build as many new buildings as they like!!

I am baffled by the councils decision to have these windows changed at the east beach hotel at considerable expense to the owner. The Windows that were installed look absolutely acceptable to anybody passing the hotel, no 'eyesore' and are certainly in keeping with the hotels either side. When are the people that run This town for us going to help the businesses of Eastbourne prosper and flourish? I am the general manager of a large department store in Eastbourne and the proprietor of the East Beach hotel regularly uses my business when she needs to improve her rooms and always likes to keep her money in the area using local businesses like me because she cares about Eastbourne and the people in it. Hotels are the lifeblood of our community here in Eastbourne and if we lose the east beach we would not only be losing a great hotel but we would also be losing a great local character in Heidi.

Politics gone mad as usual! I think the hotel looks very well preserved & cared for! EBC should be happy that it is maintained so well & ascetically pleasing to the seafront.
