Let Heidi keep her better windows. A nice hotel on our seafront that deserves to be looked after and by not having wooden windows does not affect our town. However by making the owner change them will cost thousands of pounds and do we really want another hotel to go down the toilet in this town? No. We must support Heidi!

Having been a tenant in some awful properties in Eastbourne that have sash windows that are not fit for purpose due to the ridiculous rules around older buildings in the town centre, I have a lot of sympathy for the owner. There have been many stories of problems with this towns planning committee and I think a real investigation is needed. How many public services could have been funded with that money? Good luck to all involved!

A ridiculous situation which needs a new organisation to offer balance to the Listing process and allow buildings to be conserved but made fit for 21st century use without threatening to make viable businesses bankrupt. Time to drag our seaside resorts kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

You're going to bankrupt a business when there are businesses trading without licenses or correct change of use planning in place. How do you explain why this council has brought so many failed cases that cost the council taxpayers so much money compared to surrounding areas?

Not from this area, but I'll sign anything that stands up to stupidity of local councils.

Have stayed at East Beach Hotel a few times and every year it's had a little bit of magic done to it to restore it to the beautiful building it is today. The windows are still keeping with the character of this building and helping to keep it standing for another many years!

Another mess by authorities with unrealistic standards and not moving on with new products that do the job better and look great. Putting these owners and staff at Rick of losing there home and livelihoods.

I walked down the seafront the other day, and noticed that there is a few hotels that need a lick of paint and windows falling out.
Why the council is picking on the Eastbeach Hotel i don't know. It looks very smart with its nice new modern windows and new paint.
Hope the council planners get the sack
Best of luck

This is not financially viable and I do feel heavily swayed by a councillor, who wanted to buy the hotel and lost out to these lovely people. Is eastbourne council trying to put this hotel out of business? If so I can only presume it's so the councillor can buy it at a reduced cost.
