Let Students Choose their Senior Photo for their Yearbook

My son will be a senior at MHS next year. I don't think it's fair that we don't have a choice as to where we get out senior portraits done. Some of us don't have the money for Mark Lawrence or transportation to get there. What are those kids supposed to do? Just my concern.

No family should be forced to use 1 single photographer. You are creating a monopoly that way and forcing ubsurd and unneccesary costs on the families.

When I went to Memorial we had a choice of where to go. Yes some of us chose ML for our senior photos and some did not. Why are we now dictating where the seniors can get their pictures taken? They may do the photos for sports but that doesn't mean they need to be the only one to take pictures. Give them the choice. They are seniors they need to learn to make a choice before being thrown into the real world. Pricing at the company may be a hinder for single parented families. This is ridiculous and I'm completely shocked Memorial would do this.

I think we should be able to choose our own photographer. it's a shame we are already over paying just for yearly pictures that never seem to.come out great let alone senior pictires...

I know senior picture can be costly in general. It wouldn't be fair to be forced to use a specific photographer that is already costly as it is when they could use a more affordable photographer that would better fit the means of that family.

A student should have the freedom to shoot with whomever they want as long as the photo(s) submitted by the student meet the criteria that has been set-forth by the school system. The school system is not a private entity like a pageant which can enter into exclusive contracts with photographers. The school is a public organization and should not be discouraging their students the right to make their own choices. Essentially the school system is bullying it's own students by giving them only one choice.

My son is a senior this year and because of the outrageous prices I was not able to afford getting his picture taken for his senior yearbook picture...

I am a single mom I can't afford these prices so my daughter will have to go with out a picture Bs......

As a parent/photographer, I have taken my older kids senior pictures and would like to continue by finishing it with my youngest. I'm not quite understanding the issue for this all of a sudden. Let the kids pick who takes their pictures, it's their choice, you take away so much as it is...it's just a picture, their last picture to be remembered by!

This is ridiculous!! The school has NO RIGHT to dictate who takes Senior photos. This decision belongs to the kids & families, NOT the school.

Way to go MSD! Not only will students and their families be unable to choose their own photographers according to their means, but they will have to travel to Nashua. Shouldn't students and their families have the freedom of choice? Why does this sound so unfair?

Freedom to choose photographer is a parents right. Better for the local business community and for parents that can not afford or like the quality of photos assigned by a photographer that may not meet the expectations for wharves being paid for.

Limiting options is unfair and monopolistic. I would think a school would be above such practices. It would seem this serves only the simplification of the process for the school and certainly no greater benefit for the consumers.

let students and families pick who they like for pictures .... I have had several different photographer for my kids and the best one was a student at MCC looking for subjects to expand her portfolio

Students and parents should have the right to choose who they pay to take the portraits. Senior photos were pricey and not everyone can afford them. They should not have to purchase high dollar photos.
