Leave it as is, I had ancestors who fought and died in the war. This was and is a way of remembering and honoring them for their valor.

Please leave our monument alone. It is, for better or worse, a part of our history and who we are. Please don’t let the current political atmosphere influence the treatment of our heritage. Thank you!

Leave the Confederate Monument where it has stood since April of 1902.
The history of America with all that is worthy of remembering and all that is troubling and messy must be remembered by all her people. Hiding or destroying what we might not like is a grave mistake for ourselves and future generations of American citizens. We must learn not to judge past events and persons in the light of what we consider "right" by standards of today. Let us honor our ancestors and heritage even if we might have questions about some of their choices actions.

My grandfather fought in the Civil Way, was a prisoner of war and was released when he contracted pneumonia. He came to Brunswick with his wife and opened a dry goods store on Bay Street, The J. B. Davis Co. He is buried at Palmetto Cemetery, and his brother, David Davis is buried at Oak Grove Cemetery. This is a monument to our ancestors and it means a lot to many of us.
