I sent my comments, by mail, to Brunswick City Hall to the City Commissioners, who will be making the decision.

History is history. Learn from it. If we try to erase all evidence of it, how dies that help the future? Monuments, museums, and more, remind us how far we have come, so we don't go there again!

All monuments that have been erected should stay there since it catalogs a people or an event that happened. So as to educate future generations. You cannot judge past eras with current mindsets because as things change and evolve, it shows where progress has lead to that point. The removal and eradication of Confederate history and monuments is the removal and disgrace of a people who proudly stood up for their homes, way of life and Southern heritage. We can debate slavery all day long. But until you put it who brought it here and nurtured it, then it's not a topic for discussion.

That soldier's memorial statue is for the lives of the Confederate soldier, black and white. It's not there for a manipulation of history to justify a social justice narrative 103 years later. That is all this man made "strife among men" is all about.

It should stand as a way to remember the past not to condone the behavior of the past. Just because I don't agree with the Confederate agenda doesn't mean that their lives held any less value to be remembered. It was a time of cutlure needing to change. Wiping out there memories won't change the past not will it erase hatred of today. Only love for your fellow man and acceptance of what has been, what is, and the hope of what we can make our future will change our current culture.
