Come on now! I never had him as a teacher but he was my sister's favorite teacher and he was always the best and most polite to everyone! Bring him back! Profanity is part of growing up! So is getting a life!

This is outrageous that a great teacher of 16 years would have these repercussions from a poem. Poetry is meant to be an exploration of feeling and to push the boundaries of thought. Consequently this sometimes means that things might get a little offensive for some. Additionally, since this was an optional class held off of school grounds the actions taken were entirely unreasonable.

Unless there are other details/complaints/etc. that (for whatever reason) have not been made public, I am really disappointed in Easley High School for their lack of support for an otherwise respected, successful teacher who clearly loved and valued his role at the school as well as in the lives of his students.

If using a tactic outside the box to challenge his SENIOR A.P students to think analytically is this man's allegation, then SHAME on Pickens County for entertaining such narrow- minded Pharisitical behavior. His reputation as a rigorous teacher who gets the most out of his students precedes him. Unjust. Such shallow, Pharisitical actions will lose in the end, but unfortunately Easley High students have lost a jewel as a result of this blatant agenda pushing ignorant. Behavior of paranoid parents. It's a shame.

The school should not have done this to fish! Think of all the stuff we normally read in English. Shakespeare is perverted kind of, Romeo and Juliet has sexual stuff in it murder and suicide in it, Beowulf has death in it, the Scarlet letter is about a woman who committed adultery and got pregnant so she was then forced to wear a capital A on her chest. And don't even get me started on the stuff we learned in history! Fish's poem was just more bluntly written then the stuff we normally read. So what?! So, what is the big deal?! It was a poem for AP English, it was NOT read out loud, and wasn't done on school property. He is a great teacher! He's there for his students and truly cares for them. That should be all that matters! I hope they let him come back!

I did not have Mr. Fish, but it was very clear that he had an impact at Easley High. His presence alone made you wonder what he was doing to make his students so excited about learning. I wish I would've had the opportunity to have him as a teacher and a mentor. I hope that everyone's love and support of this beloved teacher will make a difference in this unfortunate situation.

I'm signing this not because Easley deserves a teacher like Gregory Fish, but because they need someone like him. The fact someone would cause another person to lose their career over something as simple as a word ('offensive' is a relative term) not directed towards them shows a lack of courage from the school and loss of creative freedom in the class. I find this very troubling.....

A student wrote the poem. Period. Not only do they use the "F" word, most of them are having sex. It was off campus, in an informal setting, with advanced level students. Give them some credit! They aren't little children anymore...

Gregory Fish is 1 of 2 teachers at easley high who challenged me to think beyond the classroom. I'm now a successful and confident person, and a small part of that comes from having a role model in our school system who dares to be confident and bold. Easley High needs more Gregory Fish leaders.

I had Mr. Fish the first year he taught and he opened my eyes to literate and ignited a love of reading in me. As long as I read I will never stop learning. Thank you Mr. Fish
