Let Mr. Fish teach at Easley High School

Mr. Fish is a amazing teacher and should not have been fired or put on leave because of this that's really messed up for him just saying that f word that's in a poem

I am not signing this to condone poor language, but to fire a teacher who is actually seemingly a very good teacher over a poem with one curse word is asinine. They let teachers teach about evolution, but ban Christianity and poetry. Pitiful.

Sad to see SC public ed taking another step backwards. The School Board should be ashamed.

These kids hear worse in the hall ways from their friends and others that go to school. I don't see making my him resign for it. Apparently these kids think A LOT of this teacher. It's hard these days to find a teacher that has been able to touch the lives of so many students that they are willing to get in trouble to save him. Picked your battles is what I was told by my parents when I was growing up. This seem like a stupid thing to ruin this mans life, reputation, and career over.

I think it's absurd to punish this teacher for material taught in an AP class, I hope he gets reinstated and back to the classroom where he belongs.

There's a point at which being "politically correct" is more destructive then constructive. In my FRESHMAN year of high school, we read "Romeo and Juliet" and then proceeded to watch the movie from 1968, which includes briefly seeing Romeo's bare butt after his night with Juliet. None of my classmates laughed or remarked at all. We all knew full well what they had just been doing. In today's climate, students of that age have heard and said much, much worse. Not to mention that, given the teen pregnancy rate today, many of these students have probably already engaged in some form of sexual activity. I guarantee you that, during the Poetry session, none of the students reacted in any disparaging fashion. Some parent heard about this, or some random stranger heard this completely out of context and decided that they weren't going to stand for this. I applaud the students for standing up for themselves and not allowing the school district to simply "politically correct" them.

It is a poem! These kids no days see, hear, read, and listen to a lot worse sitting at lunch, riding the bus, or even waiting on the bus. The focus should be more on how children behave instead of putting a good teacher on leave due to a poem.

This guy needs his job back. Education not only teaches to learn, but to grow.

Everyone who has ever had him for a teacher always seemed excited and egar to go to his class, I wish I had him for an English teacher at least once... I think he should be allowed back in and he deserves an apology from both the school district and the people criticizing his teaching methods!!! One word should not cost this man his job, I think an AP English student should be able to handle one "bad" word in a poem. Since attending Easley High School I've had to read books and poems containing rape, murder, and extreme violence. My class is currently reading Macbeth and it talks about Macbeth sending murders to kill his best friend, and another man's entire family. How is that not worse than the "F" word?? Easley High School needs more teacher like Mr.Fish and I hope he gets to come back!!

This is not right in any way, this is a AP class. What do you expect ? Why can't he say one cuss word in a poem but yet parents sign papers to let us watch pg-13 movies that have them as well.

My daughter had Mr. Fish, for English. She had been through a lot of really tragic things in our family. He taught her to write about her feelings, not bottle them up inside. Thank you, Mr. Fish! BRING BACK MR.FISH! We have very few teachers who actually enjoy teaching!!!!!!!!!!!

Famous movie quote says it best " The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few!" Awesome teachers such as Mr. Fish only come along once in a great while! To have impacted so many in such a positive way to be recognized generations later is a testament to his character that far outweighs any perceived error in judgement. The feelings of one individual about one word taken out of context should not be justification enough to fire such a dedicated teacher. For the sake of our children bring this teacher back!
