I hope that Mr. Fish will be reinstated as a teacher at Easley High School. From everything I have read about him he sounds like a teacher I would like to have had for myself, my children, and my grandchildren. My thoughts are with him, his family, and his students. I hope Pickens County School Board can stand behind a dedicated teacher in our school system and find a way to place him back in the classroom. This man deserves the community support he is receiving.

Because it's a form of art and it shouldn't be cut off just because you work with high school student it was nothing that was trying to get at one of the students. Even the best poets had suggestive themes that are read in class and are 100% okay to have but if it's out of school it shouldn't matter what he writes.

My teen has Fish this year, and though she complains about the workload it is obvious how he has taught the students to become critical thinkers. His room was a safe haven for many students and a judgement-free zone where they were encouraged to voice their opinions...something teens don't get a chance to do all that often.
The EHS administration are cowards if they did not support him, and the Pickens County school board members who forced him to resign are bullies and morons. Occurrences like these are a prime example of why the school board could cause the SDPC to lose accreditation. Shame on you, Pickens county! And to all the current and former students who are blogging, posting, and tweeting so eloquently: don't give up!

I have not had the pleasure of knowing Mr Fish, but I know one of his former students quite well. He is the only teacher she ever talks about. That means something.

If this teacher did nothing more than read a poem off campus to a group of students, I do not see what the issue is and believe not only he but every single student both past and present who had the pleasure of having a conversation with him should do what they know is right. There have been worse than this come out of Easley high and to put a black mark which as this on a man's record is a travesty of justice.
Though I never had the chance to sit in one of his classrooms I met the man. He was very kind and honest. It is my firm belief that he should be reinstated.
I would also like to bring up the fact that every teen, no matter what family background, has heard and probably spoke the same word he was suspended for, and with a lot more feeling.
I stand with this man and his students and will support this cause till the end.

I dont know this teacher personally but he seems like the type of person that would go out of his way for anybody. he seems like the type that would not hurt anyone on purpose. the poem he wrote was suppose to be for an advanced high school class and obviously a immiture student or students were in that class. Bring Mr Fish back please.

Mr. Fish is an example of what we need in high school today. His absence in the classroom is a loss for these kids and we must bring him back as soon as possible.

It shouldn't be so easy to fire a teacher. especially if they're innocent and have an impact on their students which is rare today.
