As a retired teacher, I believe there is no greater testament to a teacher than the love and respect of his students. I wholeheartedly support their efforts to have Mr. Fish reinstated

Mr. Fish is an amazing person and teacher. Although I never had him for a teacher I have spoken to him on occasion while I was at Easley High.

Mr. Fish taught me how to see life in over 17 different ways. He taught me to question, to think, and to wonder. He taught me the beauty of teaching and desire it took to truly love your students enough to push them. Mr. Fish made me think about real world topics. He taught me the concepts of empathy. Mr. Fish helped me pass the AP literature exam and prepared me for life. He gave the best advice and to this day I credit him as my inspiration to go into the teaching field. I would not be the same person I am today without Mr. Fish.

Just because a teacher said one cuss word doesn't mean they need to be punished for it. Mr. Fish is a great teacher.

So the poem was kind of sexy. So it contained "the f-word". At least one of our current presidential candidates has used a form of the word at campaign rallies. There have been some complaints, but mostly it's "oh, he's being outrageous again!" Many popular movies and (on cable and streaming services) television shows use various forms of the word. They're considered "edgy". Samuel L. Jackson is known for using some form of the word (often the compound form abbreviated as MF) in his movies, and he narrated the audiobook version of the book "Go the F*** to Sleep". Not only is he celebrated for this, it has been the subject of many an internet meme. Face it, y'all. Your kids already know the word. Your kids already USE the word (I know I did when I was that age). To dismiss a teacher for using the word in the context of a poem is both ridiculous and hypocritical. Bring him back.

This is an overzealous reaction to an issue that could have been handled without the firing of an excellent educator. It brings to light the greater problem in the SDPC of administrators seemingly lacking in both good judgement and wisdom.

Any teacher with the kind of dedication, rapport with students, & success of his students that Mr. Fish has demonstrated does not deserve to be summarily dismissed due to a possible error judgment but without law violation!

The school board needs to look ar Mr Fisher from how much he has given to his students in the past 16 years. This incident that caused this issue was off campus and a college course. I pray Mr Fisher is reinstated so Students can continue to benefit from an outstanding teacher that cared about his students.
