Let Mr. Fish teach at Easley High School

I attended EHS from '98-'02. I wasn't a student of Mr. Fish, but his reputation as an educator was renowned in that school. For a teacher that cared so much about broadening his student's minds and lives to lose his career over something this trivial is appalling. A great disservice towards a man who gave so much to so many.

I had Mr. Fish when I was a student at Easley High School. 16 years later I still remember him as if it were yesterday. He was an amazing teacher who touched the lives of all of his students.

I had Mr. Fish for English my Senior year and I still use some of his references and analogies today. He is an excellent teacher and mentor. If it wasn't for his teaching, I wouldn't have a research paper published in a top surgical journal. I have not had Mr. Fish as a teacher nor have any of my children. I was made aware of this through a friend whose daughter had him. After seeing the outpouring of support on here, I will gladly sign the petition. Its not very many teachers anymore that can make such an impact on so many lives. And the reasoning behind his dismissal is ridiculous. You can't be present inside any school for 5 minutes these days without much worse being said by students. My 5th grade son comes home and tells me some of the things that are said in his class and it sickens me. Let the man teach. He is obviously doing a great job judging by the support and comments he is receiving!

Mr. Fish taught my daughter her senior year at Easley High School and he was one of the very best teachers she had. Mr. Fish is not just a dedicated teacher who truly cares about his students but he has been a friend and helper to all, students and parents alike. I find it unbelievable that Mr. Fish has been let go based on the complaint of one student for something he read or said outside the classroom setting. This sounds like the gestapo instead of a school board making a fair decision based on the facts. Considering that this decision was made based on a complaint by one student is highly suspicious. When in fact, students I know from Easley High have all said this "word" he said is one that is heard daily in the hallways of EHS. There are many forms of good literature that use different forms of profanity while expressing their point. To let someone go because they read this piece, word for word, is in essence taking away their right to freedom of speech. I'd also like to say that I feel it is truly unfair that Mr. Fish has been singled out this way. The school board is affecting his future retirement and his family's livelihood with this rash decision. It is with great sincerity that I ask that Mr. Fish be allowed to return to the classroom where he can continue to teach and mentor the students who need him. Thank you for the opportunity to air my grievance and sign this petition.

I had Mr. Fish over ten years and I still quote him to this day. He is one of the greatest educators of all time. Do not deprive easley of his teaching.
