Mr. Fish is a teacher and mentor who is beloved by his students. In teaching them literature that contained "foul language" he was allowing his AP Literature (college preparation) students to form their own opinions about censorship and art. High school students are mature and certainly well-accustomed to hearing and even speaking similar, if not more explicit, language in their daily exchanges with peers, family members, and media.

Pressuring a teacher to leave because he's teaching young adults to question censorship is utterly ridiculous. Students need to be taught to think for themselves, not just regurgitate for standardized testing. He should be reinstated immediately!

Greg Fish taught 2 of my children and should teach the 3rd next year. He was one of their favorite teachers. The classes were not easy but they learned so much. If I understand correctly the poem was read off campus so whatever was said should not be grounds for dismissal. Many teachers should be fired for their bad language during and after school hours!! So I challenge any who knows of bad behavior should call and report all "bad" teachers around our county!

One of the best teachers ever employed at EHS. Challenges students to do their best. Somebody outraged by a word needs to thicken their skin. And he can teach spin classes at the YMCA for the strong.

He is a terrific teacher, and Easley High School needs more teachers like him, not less. If using the word F*** in a school setting is a violation so egregious that you must be dismissed, then expect a slew of coaches to be next. As someone who is involved in athletics I know for a fact that the F word slips out from time to time during games and practices. Can't remember a single time a coach got fired for that. There should not be a double standard between the classroom and the playing field. Put Greg back in the classroom!! #FightforFish.

This is ridiculous! One word, one offended student (who probably hears and says this word daily), one teachers job taken away, and thousands of lives touched. Easley high seems to be wwwding out their most important teachers. The ones who have the most impact on everyone's lives, be it past, present, and future. I myself an easley high class of 2005 could not have imagined school everyday without seeing mr. Fish walk the halls with his coffee pot. Or see him take the time to guide up and help us grow as young adults. Bring mr. Fish back.

Fire the entire administration at Easley High. I'm just so thankful that my daughter has already graduated and doesn't have to stay for the sinking of the ship.

I would not be where I am today without the guidance of Mr. FIish. His words have stayed with me forever and the knowledge he bestowed upon all of us will last a lifetime. Teachers come and go out of our lives, but Fish....Fish was more than just a teacher. He became our best friend.
Easley High School , you are a disgrace to society. I am utterly embarrassed to now say that I am an Easley High School Graduate. Come on everyone, lets #freefish

Mr. Fish was the best teacher I have ever had because he challenged me and made me realize nothing was impossible. He was a mentor to all of his students. He opened up his students minds and made us realize we are intelligent and capable of succeeding with a little hard work. Yes, he was an English teacher, but he taught me and other students so much about life, and his influence is still with us as we go through life. Teachers like Mr. Fish are rare. He is not only a teacher, but he is a mentor, friend, and coach all at the same time. He wants all of his students to succeed. Please give Mr. Fish his job back. Easley High School is and will never be the same if you let him go.
