I was fired from a teaching position back in 1991 for almost the same situation. In my case, it was for showing the very educational, socially relevant movie El Norte. When these overly self-righteous, "holier than thou" hypocrites start making noise, they make life so unnecessarily miserable for those of us who really DO have something of value to offer the world. Young people hear that word all over the place but it is the responsibility of parents to teach their kids what's acceptable language. Teach them about treating other people fairly rather than worrying about every word they hear.

EHS administrators and board members should be ashamed of themselves. I'm embarrassed for them. If only we could fire the lot of them. Re-instate him immediately and save South Carolina another embarrassing national story.

It is a sad day when freedom of speech is lost!!! I believe that this world has lost common sense. Shame on that student who had to rattle and the administration that take things to the extreme!!! Administration should be put on leave for not using critical thinking skills in this situation. Losing a valued teacher who loves students and truly cares is very sad. As a former teacher, I can say that occurrences like this will continue to create a larger deficit in the need for teachers. Parents should be teaching their children to think, do what is right, not be so strict that a child can not handle the "f" word! Tell me where in society you can go and never her it? Wake up people. These kids will enter the real world!

Perhaps instead of looking at a single word being uttered as a way to fire a teacher we look at the fact that this teacher was going above and beyond the call of duty when this happened. And what's more, when did a single word uttered equal enough to cause this big of a stink?

From what I can tell, Greg has positively impacted our students as much as any teacher in the history of EHS. Running off GREAT teachers from what appears to be a dramatic knee jerk reaction is the last thing this school district needs right now. Let the great teachers teach and show them some grace if/when they make mistakes.

The school has majorly overstepped their boundaries. The dent left behind by their course of action will affect current and future EHS students in ways that they clearly have not taken the time to think out. Fish, if you are reading these....I will personal stand beside you in any court room, sit in, protest, etc that you need me to. It's time that they understand the full scope of damage ensued. When you attempt to shelter children from even a taste of the reality of this world you are not better equipping them...you are weakening them and taking away the rights of those who influence them.

As educators, we want students to be engaged in their learning. I also understand that personnel issues are confidential. I am signing this petition because I believe that our students are important and their thoughts and insight are important. They have the right to be heard. I truly hope that since this petition was started some administrator has taken the time to sit with these students and LISTEN to them.
