As a teacher I have never seen such an outpouring of respect and love for an educator. Such eloquent and moving testimonies on Mr. Fish's behalf means he was doing more than just his job , he was educating, caring and supporting our children in the hard work of growing up. Reinstate Mr. Fish.

As an educator, you should realize that there might be more to this story than is published. There's a history that makes this a different decision than it would be if this were the only thing he's done. Of course, not everything is (or should be) public knowledge.

Mr. Fish is a great teacher trying to prepare hi students for the real world and deserves to be in the classroom

This was my favorite teacher in High School. He is by far the best teacher that EHS has ever had and will ever have again. He taught the students to think for themselves. He forced students to have an opinion. He pushed students out of their comfort zones and it made the students greater. I do not know a single student who had him and did not have a high opinion of him because he was/is a large reason that they are who they are today! Without a teacher like this there is no hope for our future generations. What he did was nothing that the students have not already been exposed to at their age and when they graduate, they can't turn people in for saying something they simply agree with because that right is covered under the first amendment. When he did what he did it was not even on school grounds and well after school hours. The students signed up for the elective eve t knowing full well who the teacher was and if they did not like it, they could have easily just not went to the meetings anymore.

This is why the American education system is so flawed. How can you penalize an educator that actually challenges his students and actually teaches them to think. As a fellow educator, I am appalled by your actions. Another example of why I choose to no longer work in public education and why I homeschool my kids. Sad that great educators are being forced out of public education by ignorant administration.

I'm not sure I would have done what he did, but he certainly doesn't deserve to lose his position. He touched the students, helped them to connect to literature and feel passionate about it. That's his job.

Internet stranger here, but always here to stand up against unnecessary censorship. Hopefully I can give back to the world in return for the gift of wonderful teachers who were allowed to TEACH me without absurd constraints. Good luck!

Oh come on, high schoolers can handle this. If my backwards as hell high school let my special ed class (behavior disorder) read a book with like 5 f-bombs and literally being bout a dude sting himself on fire then I bet A lit seniors can deal.

I teach English and Creative Writing in Georgia. I think it's amazing that Mr. Fish and his students are sharing their work with one another. Censorship helps no one.
