howell high school always taught us to reach for our dreams and never let amything hold us back.. shouldn't they practice what they preech? why should a kid with autism be held to a different standard? this is absurd.

I was trying to say and it sent the signature already -I know and respect Mr. Meehan beyond and I know if he has any say he would definitely try and help..all the best to this young athlete -I was an athlete for Howell and it was some of my best memories so I'm praying this quickly turns around for this young man and he can experience this wonderful time in his life. Even if the boy's scores are not up to par with the rest of the team, this is an excellent opportunity for this student to make memories and have one last shot at accomplishing his dream. Public school is about inclusion and accommodating. Let's make it happen. If the school let's this student participate, only good things can come from it. If his scores are not up to par, at least let him be a part of the team, give his a uniform, and let him practice. There truly is no harm in that

As an Alumni of Howell High School, I am deeply saddened by this story. My heart goes out to the family and I hope that the school can find a way to give Micheal an amazing high school experience that every student deserves. Howell prides itself on being a "family", well... find a way for him to be apart of the team he wants to participate on. Other teams have "managers" but do not participate in the events, are they considered a liability? I'm sure an "Honorary Member" of the bowling team would hardly be a liability.

If there is a place in a bus to get him to school and a place in the school for him to learn there should be a place on a team for him to feel proud, accomplished and a part of his HS.
